NIKE AIR JORDAN 1

NIKE AIR JORDAN 1

Today's topic, Self Destruction (yes, that's on the radio as I am writing this)
Lets try that again....Today's Topic, Nike Air Jordan 1

The Air Jordan 1 is basically what started  my obsession for sneakers. Back in 1985 when the Air Jordan 1 was released, I was a young buck in Anne Frank Elementary School in Northeast Philly. As we all know, MICHAEL JORDAN is arguably the greatest basketball player of all time!!! Michael changed the game forever. Not only because of his amazing ability on the court, but also for his endorsement deal with Nike. The deal that brought us AIR JORDAN. Back then, an endorsement for that amount of money was unheard of, especially for a rookie. For myself and countless others, the Air Jordan 1 was a vital part of how my life long love of sneakers originated. Don't get me wrong, Hip Hop, Adidas, Puma's, Lottos, Le Coq Sportif, Fila, New Yorker Laces among many other influences were a significant reason for my love of kicks and the culture as well. However, the Nike Air Jordan 1 is what really took it to another level. For myself and my friends, the Air Jordan 1 was like nothing we had ever saw before. Words can not express the feeling I had the first time I saw the Nike Air Jordan 1. From that day on I always loved sneakers. Don't get me wrong, I couldn't afford them and my parents sure as hell weren't spending $100 on a pair of sneakers. Therefore, I was forced to wait until I had my own money to start collecting. And as they say the rest is history...hundreds of pairs later!

I currently have a lot of different pairs, some pairs I like more than I like the Air Jordan 1 but I will never forget where it all started....with the Nike Air Jordan 1!!!

Air Jordan 1 Banned
( For those of you who have been living on Mars, back on October 18, 1985 the Nike Air Jordan 1 sneaker was dismissed from the game. At that time the NBA and its commissioner, David Stern banned the Air Jordan 1 because they said the sneaker was to colorful. So every time Michael Jordan would wear the sneakers the NBA would fine him thousands of dollars. At that time, Nike decided to pay the NBA fines for each and every game for the remainder of the season. The fine the NBA set and the controversy it created ended up being great publicity for Nike and the Air Jordan 1 sneaker.
Now lets talk about the amazing release of the latest Air Jordan 1, the AJ 1 Banned. All I have to say is the release alone speaks volumes. The fact that Nike and Jordan Brand only released them at select Nike Outlets made the sneaker what it is, a fucking classic among all Jordans. I can't begin to tell you how much I love this. The fact that the original Air Jordan 1 was banned by the NBA and David Stern, then to release this sneaker at outlets only and "ban" them from regular stores is fucking genius!!!! Really, whoever came up with the idea is brilliant. Seriously, it makes the shoe. Think about it, this same sneaker was released a hell of a lot of times. But because of the way Jordan Brand released the AJ 1 Banned, it totally caused chaos among sneaker lovers. This is why Nike and Jordan Brand have such a hold on the sneaker community....Because of amazing marketing like we saw with the AJ 1 Banned....and let's face it, they also make the freshest kicks in the world!!!

What's up with Jordan Brand???

-What's up people? Its your boy E...Sorry I haven't hit you with any posts lately but I have been super busy as of late. I do want to thank all of you who have been sending me countless emails! I promise to get back to each and every one of you!

NOW BACK TO THE TOPIC AT HAND....
   What's up with Jordan Brand???
First and foremost I want to send a big shot out to Jordan Brand for the recent release of the Air Jordan 1 Banned...(PLEASE CHECK MY NEXT POST...ITS ALL ABOUT THE AIR JORDAN 1)

Today I want to discuss something that has really been bothering me for a while now. As we all know, Nike Air Jordan sneakers are not made with the same quality materials they once were. As bad as that is and as mad as that gets me, it is not what my gripe is about. It's about Air Jordan swapping out the original materials with the Nubuck they're now using, specifically on the Nike Air Jordan 3 Retro. What's up with that? Come on Jordan Brand, this is bullshit!!! Don't get me wrong, on some kicks the nubuck is fly, but not on every shoe. Especially the Air Jordan 3 Retro Black Cement's which are scheduled for a 2011 release. This is totally a violation on Jordan Brand's part. This isn't just another release. We are talking about the NIKE AIR JORDAN 3 BLACK CEMENT, THE GREATEST SNEAKER OF ALL TIME! How dare they compromise this piece of history? Wasn't replacing the Nike Air for the Jumpman symbol bad enough??? How much further can they disrespect the work of art that is the Nike Air Jordan 3???

What are your thoughts on this? Am I the only one who feels this way? Maybe I am...Maybe its me trying to hold on to my youth? I don't know, what do you think???
